Zips handle Huskies with ease
The surging Akron Zips won again on Wednesday night, recording its highest scoring ouput of the season in a 90-76 win over the visiting Northern Illinois Huskies. The win was the third in four games for the Zips, who moved to 6-3 in the MAC East to stay a half-game behind first-place Kent State.
Darryl Roberts led the way with 18 points and eight rebounds, and Chris McKnight contributed 16 points and five assists. The Zips led by as many as 27 in the second half.
Winning figures to be much more difficult going forward for Akron, though, as it hits the road for five of its next seven games. That includes a trip to Richmond to take on the VCU Rams of the Colonial Athletic Association in a BracketBuster affair. How the Zips play away from home over the next month will go a long way in determining how successful this season ends up.
